HC Deb 21 November 1917 vol 99 cc1203-4W
Mr. WILES

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the fact that the annual Reports of His Majesty's Inspectors of Constabulary of England and Wales, as published, do not now contain tables showing the cost of the police, he can state the expenditure and income of the provincial police forces for the years 1915 and 1916 as formerly given in Table II. of the Appendix to the Report?

Sir G. CAVE

I have not this information for the years 1915 and 1916. The tables had to be discontinued on account of pressure of work arising from the War.

Mr. WILES

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether, in view of the fact that the Annual Report of His Majesty's Inspector of Constabulary for Scotland does not now contain tables showing the cost of the police, he can state the expenditure and income of the Scottish police forces for the years 1915 and 1916, as formerly given in Tables 1 and 2 of His Majesty's Inspector's Report?

Mr. MUNRO

The Tables in question were discontinued as a war economy of labour and expense, and the information desired is not in my possession.
