HC Deb 15 November 1917 vol 99 cc598-9W
Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Minister of National Service if he has given notice to review the certificate of exemption granted to Mr. Albert Inkpin, Secretary of the British Socialist Party, on the ground that, as secretary of this organisation, he sent a packet of literature, by request, to a member of the Royal Army Medical Corps; and, if so, whether this appeal for the withdrawing of Mr. Ink-pin's certificate of exemption is intended to hamper the activities of a political party?

Sir A. GEDDES

No instructions were issued by the Ministry of National Service with regard to the review of Mr. Inkpin's certificate. Action in connection with the review of his ease was initiated by the National Service representative, in accordance with the usual procedure, whereby, if fresh information comes to his knowledge, which in his opinion should be brought to the notice of the appropriate tribunal, he acts without reference to higher authority.
