HC Deb 12 November 1917 vol 99 cc64-5W
Mr. BOLAND

asked on what grounds the old age pension of Mrs. Mary Diggin, Coolnaharrigle, Glenbeigh, county Kerry, has been restricted to 4s. instead of 7s. 6d., to which she claims to be entitled; and whether full investigation has been made by the Local Government Board into her claim?

Mr. DUKE

The pension in this case was reduced from 5s. a week to 2s. a week on the ground that the claimant's means exceeded £26 5s., and did not exceed £28 17s. 6d. a year. I am informed that the pensioner is in receipt of separation allowance and excess allotment, in respect of a son in the Army, of 8s. 9d. a week; and she has, in addition, a small piece of land, with a cow, a calf, and some poultry. She is now receiving the additional pension allowance of 2s. 6d. a week.
