Member for Barnard Castle, as representing the Ministry of National Service, whether he is aware that none of the four directors of agriculture appointed in Wales are Welshmen or have any knowledge of the Welsh language; and whether with a view of securing the co-operation of the Welsh people, he will see that those appointed as his sub-agents are conversant with the language of the people and not of another nationality?
§ Mr. S. WALSHThe Agricultural Commissioner for Wales is Welsh born and Welsh speaking. Of the three Agricultural Sub-Commissioners, one is Welsh hon and the other two have been resident in Wales for many years. All these gentlemen are believed to foe able to understand the Welsh language sufficiently for the performance of their duties.
