HC Deb 21 March 1917 vol 91 c1925W
Mr. CROOKS

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he is aware that a number of workmen in Chatham Dockyard are resident in Woolwich; that the cost of travelling home at week-ends is pressing upon them very hardly; and whether steps can be taken to restore the privilege to them of cheap tickets on production of a voucher from the dockyard?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The privilege of week-end tickets was withdrawn on 1st January last in connection with the general scheme for restriction of railway travelling, and the case of the men referred to by my right hon. Friend is not considered to be so exceptional as to justify the grant of the privilege suggested by him.
