HC Deb 20 March 1917 vol 91 cc1742-3W
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether the arrest and deportation of Mr. J. J. O'Kelly, without charge or trial, was because he is vice-president of the Gaelic League, and a member of and constant attendant on its four most active sub-committees, namely, the Oireachtas Committee, which holds an annual festival extending over a week, and is devoted to the revival of the language, literature, social customs, songs, stories, music, act, pastimes, and industries of Ireland; the finance committee; the publications committee; and the committee charged with education and organisation; and whether all these activities are now held to be illegal?

Mr. DUKE

I must refer the hon. Member to my answers to his previous questions on this subject.
