HC Deb 14 March 1917 vol 91 cc1121-2W
Mr. FIELD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can see his way to arrange through the Department of Import Restrictions for Licences, to import a percentage of hog-casings without the condition laid down by the Admiralty—namely, that licences for these commodities can only be granted in pro- portion to the number of goldbeater skins imported, and thereby preserve to the working and poorer classes of the community a supply of wholesome, economical, and convenient food, on which they largely depend, in the form of sausages?

Mr. G. ROBERTS

I have reason to hope that the quantity of hog-casings for which licences have been granted will shortly be adequate to secure the end desired by the hon. Member.
