§ Mr. FORSTERThe disposal of food residues is under the control of a branch of the Quartermaster-General's Department at the War Office. By-products suitable for the manufacture of glycerine are dealt with through a Committee approved by the War Office and largely composed of experts in the trade. The chairman is Mr. J. W. Hope, of John Knight and Co., Limited, and the hon. secretary and organiser is Mr. V. H. Poynter. For some time past a plant for dealing comprehensively with all food refuse has been at work in one of the large camps under the management of an expert, Mr. Gee, who has had considerable training and experience.
