§ Mr. STANTONasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Food if he is aware that 16 tons of potatoes were retailed in Caerphillys, Glamorganshire, last week at 1¾d. a lb. in quantities of not less than 14 pounds, and that local grocers secured this supply from the Army Service Department at Cardiff; will his Department investigate what stocks of old potatoes are still held by such Departments; and will he see that such stocks are used up at once to avoid waste?
§ Mr. FORSTERIt has been ascertained that some potatoes were disposed of to the trade as their keeping qualities were so doubtful that their retention by the military authorities would have involved the State in loss. No stocks of any importance are at present carried by the Army authorities.
