HC Deb 04 July 1917 vol 95 cc1122-3W
Mr. BYRNE

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) if it has yet been decided to increase the wages of the employés of the Department in Ireland; if he is aware that married labourers in the forestry centre are being paid 18s. per week; and if he is aware that the Board of Trade Returns just issued disclose the fact that the cost of living has increased 106 per cent, since the outbreak of war?

Mr. DUKE

I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to his question on the 26th June. The Department of Agriculture are aware of the fact that the cost of living has increased and that some of the labourers at the Dundrum forestry centre are married. As I have already stated, the question of granting a war bonus is being considered.
