HC Deb 21 February 1917 vol 90 cc1349-50W
Mr. P. WHITE

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether, having regard to the necessity of saving the crops arising from compulsory tillage, he will make arrangements with the Treasury whereby advances will be made to farmers for the erection of corn barns?

Mr. DUKE

The Department of Agriculture do not consider that the erection of corn barns is a necessity for the saving of corn crops. In many of the best agricultural districts corn barns are not in common use, the corn being stored in stacks.
