HC Deb 15 February 1917 vol 90 c820W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he will state the total sum paid to Messrs. Perfect and Company for inspecting and superintending the discharge of frozen meat for his Department from the outbreak of War to the 31st December last; and whether his officials have yet ascertained that at least 50 per cent, of this money could have been saved to the nation if the proposal to call in the assistance of the medical officers of health and their staffs had been adopted?

Mr. FORSTER

The total amount paid for all services rendered to 31st December last is £58,000 in round figures. In regard to the suggestion in the last part of the question, my information is to the contrary.
