HC Deb 15 February 1917 vol 90 c826W
Mr. GILBERT

asked the Secretary to the Local Government Board whether any steps have been taken by the Board this winter to secure that coal shall be available at reasonable prices for poor people in London such as were taken in the winter of 1914–15?

Mr. HAYES FISHER

The answer is in the negative. The limitation of coal prices has been dealt with by the Board of Trade, and I understand that the question is now mainly one of distribution. I am glad to say that steps have already been taken to provide greater facilities for the distribution of coal to poor persons.
