HC Deb 26 April 1917 vol 92 c2605W
Captain D. HALL

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if Private James Callaway, No. 9285, 2nd Battalion Hampshire Regiment, was reported as missing and presumed killed on 16th August, 1915; if his mother has yet received the sum of £6 2s. 8d. which the War Office informed her on 2nd October, 1916, the Command Paymaster, Eastern Command, has been authorised to issue to her, being the amount due on the settlement of the accounts of Private Callaway; and why, although repeated applications have been made, she has not yet received all her son's kit and personal belongings?

Mr. FORSTER

The facts are as stated. The money order issued last October was allowed to lapse. A fresh order has now been authorised, and if there are any personal effects they will be forwarded from the Depot, Hampshire Regiment, Winchester.
