HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 c2415W
Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Postmaster-General if he is aware that sub-postmasters of important and busy sub-post-offices have been required to join the Volunteer Training Corps as a condition of exemption from military service and that in many cases these men have no leisure to attend the drills and parades owing to their hours and the work that they have now; and will he take steps to get the Local Government Board to advise the military service tribunals that such conditions should not be attached to the exemption of this class of public servants?

Mr. ILLINGWORTH

I have no knowledge of the cases to which the hon. Member refers, but if he will give me particulars I will have inquiry made.
