HC Deb 25 April 1917 vol 92 c2416W
Mr. HOHLER

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that those placed on the reserve of officers and subsequently serving in the Pay Office are regarded as not serving in a military capacity and denied the privilege of wearing uniform; and will he consider whether the regulations may be altered and this privilege conferred?

Mr. FORSTER

Officers of the reserve of officers recalled for service in the Army Pay Department wear military uniform. Retired officers and ex-officers who are employed in pay offices in a civil capacity are not permitted to wear uniform.
