HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 c1873W
Mr. KEATING

asked the Home Secretary if his attention has been drawn to the action of the Vicars of Symondsbury, Chideock, and Whitchurch Canonicorum, West Dorset, who have refused to put the village clock forward an hour, in defiance of the (Summer Time Act; and will he ascertain if they did so in order to assist the right of private judgment in chronological as well as in theological matters?

Mr. BRACE

The attention of my right hon. Friend has not been drawn to this matter. The Home Office has no powers of control over church clocks; but he would greatly deprecate any action of the kind, which must cause considerable inconvenience to residents and others.
