Mr. RENDALL

asked the Under-Secretary of 'State for War whether he will inquire into the question of leave as it affects the 13th Battalion (Pioneers) Gloucester Regiment, 39th Division; whether this Battalion has been in France for thirteen months, almost wholly on night work, and has shown throughout great keenness and good discipline; whether no leave has been granted during the period, except special leave for pecuniary, etc., reasons to less than thirty men; and will he represent these facts to the Commander-in-Chief in France, so that this matter may be looked into?

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he is aware that many soldiers at the front have not had leave for eighteen months; and if he will make an Order that those who have served more than twelve months at the front shall be granted leave to visit their homes and friends?
