HC Deb 19 April 1917 vol 92 cc1838-9W
Mr. KENNEDY

asked the Prime Minister whether an official Accommodation Committee has been set up; if so, who is its chairman; what staff is employed; what is the cost of this staff; and what are the full functions of this Committee?

Sir A. MOND

A Committee was set up in January last to consider, during the continuance of the War, demands for accommodation from any of the War Departments, and also from any Department not directly concerned with the prosecution of the War which might conflict with the needs of the War Department, and to-determine the allocation of such accommodation.

The Committee consists of:

  • Sir Alfred Mond, Bart. (Chairman).
  • Dr. Macnamara (Admiralty).
  • Mr. Forster (War Office).
  • Mr. Kellaway (Ministry of Munitions)
  • Sir Arthur Durrant (Secretary).

There is no staff attached specially to the Committee, the necessary clerical work being performed as a part of the routine dutes of the Office of Works' staff. The two inspectors appointed by the Committee are voluntary officers.
