§ Mr. BYRNEasked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether his attention has been drawn to the order, dated 23rd March, 1917, issued by Messrs Arthur Guinness and Company to dairy owners in Dublin, reducing their supplies of fresh grains for cattle feeding; if he is aware that this order is issued as a result of the recent liquor restrictions; if he is aware that this reduction in cattle feeding will have unfavourable results on the milk supply; what the Government proposals are to secure a regular supply of milk for Dublin; and if the restrictions on the manufacture of beer will be withdrawn or modified?
§ Mr. BRACEThe milk supply of Dublin is not in the hands of the Government. Cattle feeding is not dependent only upon supplies of brewers grains, and as the restrictions on the manufacture of beer are necessary for the conservation of supplies 1309W of cereals for human food, they cannot be relaxed in the way suggested in the question.
