HC Deb 02 April 1917 vol 92 cc955-6W
Mr. JOWETT

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether a soldier on foreign service who has made a will before leaving this country may cancel it and give different directions for the disposal of his effects; and, if so, what procedure he should adopt to accomplish his object?

Mr. FORSTER

A soldier serving abroad can always make a fresh will, revoking or altering an earlier will. A special form can be obtained from the commanding officer and all formalities are reduced to a minimum. The soldier can also have the new will deposited with the military authorities at home, or the fact that he has made one recorded, [...]y applying to his commanding officer.
