HC Deb 02 April 1917 vol 92 cc957-8W
Mr. LONG

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. I understand that, except in municipalities Devaney, S.T.H., to Mrs. Mary Anne Fogarty, Bank Street, Templemore, county Tipperary, has been stopped for over four months; whether her second son, William Devaney, was under age when he enlisted in the 6th Royal Irish Regiment over twelve months ago; and whether she has been paid any separation allowance since he enlisted?

Mr. FORSTER

Inquiries will be made and I will inform the hon. Member of the result in due course.

Mr. R. McNEILL

asked the Pensions Minister if he is aware that Private Thomas Bingham, No. 11650, Royal Innis-killing Fusiliers, who was killed in Gallipoli on the 17th of August, 1915, had made an allotment for his mother as dependant, but that, while allowance was paid to her up to the 2nd of December, 1915, nothing by way of pension or grant has been paid since the latter date; and whether, under the circumstances mentioned, Private Bingham's mother is entitled to any and, if so, what pension, allowance, or gratuity?

Sir A. GRIFFITH-BOSCAWEN

Mrs. Bingham received an allotment of pay from her son, but was not eligible for separation allowance in respect of him as her husband was serving, and no pension was, therefore, admissible under the Regulations hitherto in force. Under the new Pension Warrant, however, Mrs. Bingham has been awarded a pension of 6s. weekly, which will have effect from the 4th instant.
