HC Deb 02 April 1917 vol 92 c939W
Mr. HACKETT

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) what reply has been given to the applications of a number of farmers in Temple-more district for the use of the military horses at present in the Temple-more military barracks for the purpose of cultivating their farms?

Mr. DUKE

Persons applying for the use of military horses are furnished in suitable cases with a provisional agreement setting forth the conditions under which these horses are lent. There were twenty - eight such applicants in the Templemore and neighbouring districts. In only five cases were agreements signed. Three applications were withdrawn, and in the remaining cases no further communication has been received by the Department of Agriculture.
