§ Mr. ANDERSONasked the President of the Local Government Board whether his attention has been called to cases in which men have been exempted from military 572W service on condition that they returned to their ordinary employment at Army rates of pay; and whether he proposes taking any action in this matter?
§ Mr. LONGMy attention has only been drawn to one case of this nature. In that case I informed the tribunal that if they considered that the circumstances were such that the man should be allowed to remain at his employment and be required to make a pecuniary sacrifice, the better plan would be that he should be required to devote some specified part of his remuneration to a public purpose to be designated or approved by the tribunal.
