HC Deb 21 November 1916 vol 87 c1232W
Colonel LOCKWOOD

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office why officers sent away from their base camp on Army business, and having to stay at hotels to carry out their orders, are not allowed expenses, but have to pay the-same out of their own pockets, and are told that they can apply for daily ration allowance of 1s. 5½d. per day to recoup themselves, seeing that their ordinary mess expenses out there are 8s per day, including servants, and the hotel expenses are very heavy?

Mr. FORSTER

I am unable to identify the case from the particulars given in the question. If my right hon. Friend will furnish me with further details, I shall be happy to make inquiry.
