§ Mr. KELLYasked the Comptroller of the Household, as representing the National Health Insurance Commissioners, if he will state on what grounds was John Long, of Woodlands, Ballyhofey, county Donegal, recently deprived of his disablement pension of 5s. a week, he having been a member of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants in Scotland, and having been certified unfit for further work several months ago; and is it in consequence of Long being employed for a few shillings a week to do light work, which is all he is at present able to do?
§ Mr. C. ROBERTSI have no knowledge of the particular case to which the hon. Member refers, but, if I understand the question correctly, it relates to a claim to disablement benefit under the National Insurance Acts on the part of a person who is in fact working. I would refer the hon. Member to Section 8 (1) (d) of the Act of 1911, from which it will be seen that it is an essential qualification for the receipt of this benefit that the insured person should be incapable of work.
