§ Mr. W THORNEasked the President of the Board of Trade, whether he can state the earnings of the Port of London Authority from their cold storage work for the years 1913, 1914, and 1915, respectively, and those of the Lancashire Cold Storage Company?
§ Mr. PRETYMANI am informed by the Port of London Authority that owing to the form in which their accounts are kept, under the direction of their auditor, this information is not readily available. To give it would entail very great labour, and in the present conditions of shortage of staff I am not prepared to ask the Authority to do this. I am informed by the Lancashire Cold Storage Company that the average net profit per lb. on the tonnage handled by them was .015d., or 1d. on every 66½ lbs. for the twelve months ending 31st July, 1913, and .012d. and .014d. for each of the similar periods in 1913–14 and 1914–15 respectively.
