§ Mr. ANDERSONasked the Minister of Munitions whether representations are being made to him that bonâ fide skilled workmen in munition factories who have been engaged at their trade since before the outbreak of war are being interfered with by the military authorities and forced into the Army despite the admitted shortage of skilled labour; and whether, in view of the feeling that is being aroused, he proposes taking any action in the matter?
Mr. PRIMROSEThe answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The principles on which the Ministry is acting are those set forth by the Prime Minister in his interview with the trades unions deputation on 28th Septem-444W ber. If the hon. Member is aware of any cases in which these principles are not being applied, I shall be glad if he will forward particulars of them, so that inquiry may be made.
