HC Deb 09 November 1916 vol 87 c419W
Mr. BARNES

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government have given any consideration to the position of people, such as blind persons, cripples, etc., who are not in receipt of wages, and therefore cannot participate in any war bonus; and whether anything can be done to assist these people to meet the increased cost of living?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am aware that a number of persons in the position described by my right hon. Friend must be suffering hardship consequent on the increase in the cost of living, but I am afraid I cannot say more than that their cases ought to make a special appeal to the generosity of the public.
