HC Deb 09 November 1916 vol 87 c456W
Mr. W. THORNE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that a dispute is pending in the Northampton building trade because the Northampton builders and contractors have refused to make any advance in wages to the men, and have refused to meet them in conference; if he is aware that the men are about to tender notices unless a proper settlement is arrived at; and if he intends taking action to bring the parties together so as to avoid any strike taking place?

Mr. PRETYMAN

The Chief Industrial Commissioner has been in communication with the parties, and it has now been arranged that a meeting shall be held between the employers' association and the representatives of the trade unions.
