HC Deb 02 November 1916 vol 86 c1848W
Lord H. CAVENDISH-BENTINCK

asked the Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that Class C 1 men, presumably men of poor physique accustomed to sedentary occupations, who have been recently called up have been placed immediately under canvas; and will he say how many of these men have consequently been sent to hospital?

Mr. FORSTER

I am not in a position to say whether men of Class C 1 have in any cases, and if so, in how many, been placed under canvas on being called up. It is quite possible that this has been done. I have no figures available in reference to the last part of the question.
