HC Deb 15 May 1916 vol 82 c1141W
Mr. TOUCHE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether it is intended that members now serving in the Royal Defence Corps who are liable for service in the United Kingdom only and are of military age shall be subject to transference without their consent to anothers corps and to be posted to a battalion or other body of the regular forces for foreign service?

Mr. TENNANT

Members of the Royal Defence Corps are serving on a Territorial attestation, and as Territorials will, under the provisions of the Bill now before the House, be liable to transfer without their consent to another corps. Those who come under the provisions of the Military Service Act or Bill will become regular soldiers under that Act or Bill unless they volunteer for foreign service.
