HC Deb 09 May 1916 vol 82 c460W
Sir E. LAMB

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that the Young Men's Christian Association institutes and recreation huts provided by the churches at Chatham, Rochester, and neighbourhood for the use of the troops

have been closed by military authority at 8 p.m., namely, one hour before public-houses, the reason assigned being the prevalence of infectious disease; and whether he will state the reason for such discrimination?

Mr. TENNANT

This is a matter which rests entirely in the discretion of the General Officer Commanding, and I have no information as to what action he may have taken.
