HC Deb 14 March 1916 vol 80 cc1906-7W
Mr. KING

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether the War Office is making payments to the Lunacy Commissioners or to the asylum authorities in respect of the care and treatment of uncertifiable nerve-shaken soldiers in hospitals which are also, or were formerly, asylums?

Mr. FORSTER

Yes, Sir; payment is being made to the Board of Control (Lunacy) for the use of the Red Cross Military Hospital, Maghull, which was about to be opened as a State institution for defectives when the War Department took it over. Payment will also be made to the Visiting Committee of the Springfield Asylum for the use of the Springfield War Hospital, which was formerly part of the asylum.
