HC Deb 09 March 1916 vol 80 c1732W
Major NEWMAN

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether fully-qualified dentists are liable for service under the terms of the Military Service Act, 1916, or whether they can claim exemption under Section 30 of the Dentists Act, 1878?

Mr. TENNANT

Section 30 of the Dentists Act, 1878, does not give exemption from the provisions of the Military Service Act. The latter Act does not apply to service in the Militia but to service in His Majesty's Regular Forces. A dentist desiring exemption could have made an application to a local tribunal before the 2nd March.
