§ Mr. OUTHWAITEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer by how much per day the National Debt is being increased?
§ Mr. MONTAGUIn the financial statement presented to the House on 4th April the deficit for 1916–17 to be made good by borrowing is estimated at £1,323,105,000. On the assumption that the borrowing is spread evenly throughout the year this will involve raising by loan on the average just over £3,600,000 per day.
