§ Mr. JOYNSON-HICKSasked the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he will issue stringent orders to the Royal Naval Air Service to economise to the utmost extent in the use of petrol and to prohibit the driving of Air Service cars unless it is absolutely essential in the public interest?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAOrders, as suggested by my hon. Friend, have been in force for some time past, to ensure economy of petrol in Royal Naval Air Service cars and to prohibit the use of motor cars and motor lorries when the train service is available. Each car and lorry has a log book, and every journey is entered in the log book. The amount of petrol consumed daily is checked and entered in the log book. Every issue of petrol is initialled by the driver and the person who authorises the issue.
