Mr. BARLOWasked the Home Secretary what the provisions in force in France and Russia with regard to the use of the German language by alien German enemies in public places are; whether he is aware that German alien enemies in this country are in the habit of using their native language in public for the purpose of insulting British citizens; and whether he will, by legislation if necessary, make provision for dealing with the matter along the lines of the regulations in France and Russia?
Mr. SAMUELI am making inquiry as to the regulations in force in France and Russia on this point. If the hon. Member will be good enough to communicate to me any definite information in support of the allegation in the second part of the question, I shall be happy to consider it.
