WINFREYNo figures are available as to the number of allotments in private ownership, but on the 31st December, 1914, the area of allotments provided by urban local authorities in England and Wales was 4,627 acres, which were-let to 78,569 individual tenants and forty-seven allotment associations. The average size of the allotments was rather less than ten rods.
