HC Deb 04 December 1916 vol 88 cc679-80W
Mr. DILLON

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland whether he is aware that on the form sent to recruits for the Dublin Metropolitan Police one of the advantages held out to them is that if injured on duty they may receive the full-pay pension, but that as a matter of fact they rarely receive a full-pay pension; and whether they have any appeal from the decision of the Treasury cutting down their pension to any extent that may seem good to the Treasury?

Mr. DUKE

The form to which the hon. Member refers was withdrawn in 1911, as the paragraph dealing with the award of pensions to members of the force injured on duty appeared to be capable of misinterpretation. Subject to certain statutory provisions, the decision as to the amount of pension in each case rests with the Government.
