§ Mr. BYRNEasked the Secretary of State for War why farmers who had no hay on their own land and had to buy meadowing to cut and save for the purpose of having hay to feed their cattle in the winter will not be allowed by the military authorities to remove it from the land when it is suitable for military purposes; if he is aware that the result will be that they will have no hay for their cattle in the winter; and if he will take steps to see that farmers will be allowed to keep hay for their own requirements?
§ Mr. FORSTERThe farmers referred to in this question are in the same category1430W as producers, and the hay they make will be treated in exactly the same way as the hay made by the farmer who has hay on his own land—that is to say, hay required by them for the use of their own stock will not be taken from them for the use of the War Department.
