HC Deb 28 September 1915 vol 74 c740W
Mr. TOUCHE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the proposal that bankers are to deduct tax from interest due to customers, they ought also to be instructed to make a similar deduction from interest payable by customers, thus avoiding numerous claims or repayment of tax on such latter interest, which at present involve a great amount of unproductive work on Inland Revenue officials and bankers?

Mr. McKENNA

I regret that I am unable to adopt the hon. Member's suggestion.
