§ Dr. MACNAMARAThe number of British merchant ships, exclusive of fishing vessels, reported sunk by submarines up to the 14th instant is 183. Of these ninety-three were reported destroyed by torpedoes. The number of British fishing vessels reported sunk up to the same date is 175, but the exact means by which they were sunk cannot be stated accurately.
