§ Captain PRETYMANThis canal is technically a "derelict canal" within the meaning of the Railway and Canal Traffic Act, 1888. The Boyne Navigation Company cannot, however, be relieved of its obligations except on the application of persons or bodies who are prepared to accept the responsibility under an approved scheme. No such scheme has yet been submitted to the Board of Trade.
