§ Dr. MACNAMARAThe rating of excavator in the Director of Works Department is about to be abolished and merged1448W in that of skilled labourer, and any men at present employed as excavators who are in receipt of less than the enhanced minimum rate for skilled labourers, namely, 25s. per week, will be raised to that rate, except probationers, who will be advanced to 24s. The present scale for skilled labourers is 25s. to 28s. a week (1s. less at Haulbowline)—probationary rate 24s.—with special rates up to a maximum of 31s.
