§ Mr. TOUCHEasked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he will ascertain whether the will of the late Sergeant Benjamin Carter, 17th Company Royal Engineers, 27th Division, Fifth Army, killed in action about 1st May, about which Messrs. Engall and Crane, solicitors, 44, Bedford Row, W.C., wrote to the War Department on 31st May, 21st June, and 10th July, on behalf of Miss Ethel Brown, who was engaged to be married to Sergeant Carter, without receiving any reply, has been received from the base at which he handed it in before going into action in which he was killed, or can he give any information on the subject, as there is an insurance policy which has to be dealt with?
§ Mr. FORSTERAn informal will left by Sergeant Carter has been received, and inquiries are being made as to the circumstances in which it was executed with a view to deciding whether it is valid or not. The result will be communicated as soon as possible to Messrs. Engall and Crane, and they have been informed to this effect.
