HC Deb 10 February 1915 vol 69 c585W
Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether he is aware that established civil servants who have joined the forces, and who are exempt from the National Insurance Act, are being compelled to stamp insurance cards contrary to the regulations issued by the National Insurance Commissioners; and whether he will make inquiries and have the matter put right?

Mr. BAKER

Men enlisting for the period of the War and members of the Territorial Force who were not insured in civil life before enlistment or mobilisation have one month within which to elect whether they will be insured or not during service. Precise instructions were issued by Special Army Order of 12th December that all soldiers in the above categories then serving who had not already exercised the option should be given until 3rd January to decide.
