HC Deb 09 February 1915 vol 69 cc415-6W
Mr. GINNELL

asked the Secretary to the Treasury if he will state the total amount of funds placed at the disposal of the Board of Education for the further encouragement of education in domestic subjects, as acknowledged in Paper [Cd. 7723]; if any equivalent grant has been made to any Irish authority for a corresponding purpose, will he state the amount; and, if none, will he say why?

Mr. ACLAND

The Paper referred to by the hon. Member is the regulations for the training of teachers of domestic subjects. The increase of cost owing to the new rates of grants payable under these regulations for the financial year 1915–1916 is estimated at £2,300, and the total cost at £7,800. In Ireland various sums, which cannot be so easily separated from other educational expenditure as in England, are expended on similar purposes.
