HC Deb 21 December 1915 vol 77 c201W
Mr. BYRNE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether insurance cards (National Health) have been printed in French and Flemish for the convenience of Belgian refugees in Great Britain and Ireland; and whether it is by the direction of the Treasury or on their own initiative that the Irish Insurance Commissioners refuse to print insurance cards in Irish or even to recognise cards printed in Irish by Approved Societies for Irish-speaking insured persons?

Mr. C. ROBERTS

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. Certain documents of a purely explanatory character have been printed in the language named for the assistance of persons who could not otherwise appreciate their position under the Acts; but I am not aware that these arrangements furnish any analogy applicable to documents of different character in dissimilar circumstances.
