HC Deb 20 April 1915 vol 71 cc221-2W
Sir CHARLES SWANN

asked the President of the Board of Trade what progress has been made by the Departmental Committee under the chairmanship of Sir William Collins in reference to accidents to railway servants; and whether the proceedings of the Committee have been interrupted in consequence of arrangements arising out of the War?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The Committee in question had, before the outbreak of the War, taken evidence from officers of the Board of Trade and employés of the railway companies, but had not taken any evidence from the railway companies. It has not been considered practicable to proceed with this evidence in view of the heavy demands on the time both of the principal officers of the companies and of the members of the Committee.
